The First Perfect Day

So, here’s a quick update. I haven’t written much lately for two reasons: the first is that I’ve been exhausted since I’m always on the go, and the second is that I haven’t been doing anything but training. Most of my time is spent downtown, walking routes with Simba, flying past obstacles faster than I’ve ever thought possible. Something to note is that today was our first perfect day-no errors, no problems, no hesitations from both Simba and myself. Simba was even able to successfully stop and alert me that a tree branch was hanging too low for me to pass.

Tomorrow, we are heading to the mall, so we can get in some more practice in doors. We did a quick trip this afternoon since it was too hot for us to work outside. As always, Simba did wonderfully, in both finding what I told him to (“find the door,” “find the elevator,” etc) and avoiding obstacles. The only command he doesn’t appear to know quite yet is “Simba, find the bar,” and that’s only a matter of time, I’m sure.

Speaking of teaching him new things, today I received my clicker, which is a tool that helps Simba learn new behaviors. In the next few days, I think I’m going to work with him to learn fetch. That should be fun for the both of us, assuming it isn’t too warm to work outside.

That’s it for this update, thanks for reading.
